Technical Development


Speed 3D began with an unproven premise: that the Hexagon NPU in the Snapdragon X2 Elite processor could support real-time, on-device AI image generation. In bringing generative image inference to this platform, the company entered largely uncharted territory, without an established playbook or proven benchmarks to guide development.


Working closely with Qualcomm Technologies engineers, Speed 3D conducted extensive testing to understand and navigate the unique constraints and capabilities of the Hexagon NPU architecture. The team rebuilt its inference pipeline from the ground up, optimizing every stage to fully leverage the performance of the Hexagon NPU. With this foundation in place, Speed 3D then fine-tuned its proprietary style models to achieve its desired level of visual fidelity and artistic quality. The result is a system capable of generating stylized portraits in under 30 seconds, entirely on-device, without reliance on a GPU or cloud infrastructure, and running on standard AI PC hardware.
